HOW TO JOIN
Prospective new members, please contact the captain (captain(at)swimdcac(dot)org) or membership (membership(at)swimdcac(dot)org) chair with any questions.
DCAC is a member of both United States Masters Swimming (USMS) and International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics (IGLA).
When you first attend a DCAC workout, introduce yourself to the coach who will welcome you and direct you to the lane best-suited to your swimming speed. You get two free trial swims after which you must become a member to continue swimming with us.
To become a member, you need to do three things:
1. JOIN DCAC FOR $35 PER CALENDAR YEAR
The annual dues cover DCAC administrative expenses. As a member, you'll receive DCAC’s weekly email newsletter. To register, download and complete our 2009_DCAC_Registration_Form.pdf and give it (along with your $35) to a board member or mail it to the address below.
2. JOIN UNITED STATES MASTERS SWIMMING FOR $37.00 PER CALENDAR YEAR.
USMS is the national organizing body for all Masters swimmers. Registration with USMS is required for every calendar year in order for you to practice with DCAC and to be eligible to compete in meets. Included in your USMS membership is a calendar-year subscription to USMS SWIMMER Magazine and the newsletter published by our regional USMS Committee, Potomac Valley LMSC. USMS provides accident insurance to its members at team practices and at USMS-sanctioned events. To register online, click here. To register by mail, download and complete the form available here.
3. PAY POOL DUES OF $8/PRACTICE, $45/MONTH, $125/QUARTER OR $450/YEAR
Pool dues cover pool rental fees and coaching staff salaries. If you wish to pay per swim, you may pay $8 at the door. Give your team dues to any Board member at practice, pay online (see the pool dues button to the right), or mail your payments to:
D.C. Aquatics Club
PO Box 77125
Washington, DC 20013
Dues must be given to the coach, assistant coach or board member prior to practice or you will not be permitted to swim. New swimmers’ first two visits with us are free of charge. Pool dues may be reduced on an individual basis at the discretion of the board. Contact the treasurer (treasurer(at)swimdcac(dot)org) or any board member for more information.

VISITORS
DCAC welcomes visitors from other USMS teams. Just show up at any workout and introduce yourself to the coach. Visitors must show their USMS card—no exceptions. Visitors are welcome for one free swim per quarter. If you wish to swim multiple times, the fee is $8 per workout, payable by check or cash.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
From time to time, we are forced to cancel practices due to inclement weather (i.e., snow or thunderstorm). In the event of inclement weather, the Board will make every attempt to notify members via email that practice has been canceled. For practices in Washington, DC, you can call the pool to verify they will be open. For a directory of DC Deptartment of Parks & Recreation pool telephone numbers, click here.
In the event of a thunderstorm, we are required to evacuate the pool for their own safety regardless if the pool is an indoor or outdoor. We are not allowed to resume practice until 30 minutes from the last sound of thunder.
If you have any comments or concerns about this policy, please email the Captain (captain(at)swimdcac.org).
